Traditional stone architecture, Natural beauty and Tranquility

Avragonio is one of the most beautiful guesthouses in Europe and has received distinction, as one of the three best mountain resorts in Europe, with the Condé Nast Traveller Awards.
Located right below the Astraka mountain peak, in the picturesque village of Megalo Papingo in Zagoria, it has been in the family since 1760 when the owner’s great grandfather was the village's doctor.

Avragonio was renovated and the new houses built with respect and loyalty to the traditional, unique architecture, using stones from ruined buildings of the past century and restoring remnant wood, windows and doors. It comprises of 23 little stone houses, each one with its own charming character. The furniture and details have been hand crafted locally, the garden is just perfect with spectacular, pretty corners and the views are simply breathtaking.

Settle into your own little house and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the mountains. Each house has its own sitting room where you can read your book, write your journal or draw some sketches. Just relax and allow your creative side to surface. Photographers will be mesmerized and Nature lovers overwhelmed.

The spacious, filled with light conference room will become our meditation hall and classroom for the two weeks of the course and the stone patio just outside, with the outdoor swimming pool will provide the ideal balcony to enjoy the afternoons if one is not in the mood to visit another village or explore the Natural beauty that simply cannot be described with words.

Home-made delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared with home grown ingredients.

Meals will be vegetarian and the cook will prepare traditional recipes using the best ingredients and products that are both local and in season; carefully selected products from the local market, dairy and eggs from the farmers in the village.
