Traditional stone architecture, Natural beauty and Tranquility
Avragonio is one of the most beautiful guesthouses in Europe and has received distinction, as one of the three best mountain resorts in Europe, with the Condé Nast Traveller Awards.
Located right below the Astraka mountain peak, in the picturesque village of Megalo Papingo in Zagoria, it has been in the family since 1760 when the owner’s great grandfather was the village's doctor.
Avragonio was renovated and the new houses built with respect and loyalty to the traditional, unique architecture, using stones from ruined buildings of the past century and restoring remnant wood, windows and doors. It comprises of 23 little stone houses, each one with its own charming character. The furniture and details have been hand crafted locally, the garden is just perfect with spectacular, pretty corners and the views are simply breathtaking.
